The nurse aide course designed for the purpose of training students who wish to seek the career path in providing safe and effective basic care for people who need long term assistance in activities of daily living.  The course is designed to teach the students the principles, concepts, and skills needed to learn the role of the nurse assistant in a long-term care facility.   The course provides an opportunity for students to perform functions of a nurse aide through faculty-guided skills lab practice and simulations as well as off-campus long term care adult clinical experiences.  After successful completion of the course and evaluation, the student will receive certification from the NATCEP and will be eligible to seek employment at the long-term care facilities as a certified nurse aide.  The objectives of this course are predesigned by the Nurses Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) course curriculum. The institution will be conducting the course with the same objectives and purpose of NATCEP.

  • At the completion of the program the student will be able to:

    • Function as a certified nursing assistant in a long-term care facility providing client-centered basic care for activities of daily living and support residents and their families

    • To take the state of Texas Nurses Aide Examination for the certification after successful completion of the classes.
